Each year during Reunion Weekend, the Alumni Council honors Grinnell alumni who have distinguished themselves by their extraordinary contributions of service to one or more of these areas:
- the College
- their profession
- their community

Recognition of Distinguished Alumni - Alumni Awards, Reunion 2014
The Grinnell College Alumni Council will recognize deserving alumni from classes invited to attend the 135th Annual Alumni Reunion, May 30 – June 1, 2014.
Alumni eligible for an Alumni Award are members of the classes of 1954, 1959, 1960, 1964, 1974, 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1989. Alumni eligible for a Pioneer Award are members of the classes of 2004, 2008, 2009, and 2010.
Please Note: Current trustees and current Alumni Council members are not eligible for either Award. Nominations for alumni from nonreunion classes will be accepted, but held until the appropriate Reunion year. Alumni who have received a Pioneer Award in the past are not eligible for an Alumni Award.
How to Submit a Nomination
We encourage you to submit a complete and detailed nomination. Doing so provides the Alumni Awards Committee with the information needed to make an informed decision.
A detailed nomination includes the following materials:
- Two or more letters of support
- Supporting documents (newspaper clippings, newsletters, citations, etc.)
- Nomination form (completed in detail)
You may complete the nomination form online or download it and send it in. Supporting documents and material may be sent to reply@grinnell.edu (please include the name of the person you are nominating in the subject line) or may be mailed to: Office of Development and Alumni Relations, Grinnell College, 733 Broad Street, Grinnell, Iowa 50112 Attn: Alumni Award Nominations. At this time, supporting documents cannot be submitted with the online form.
Alumni Award nominations are due Monday, July 15, 2013 for Reunion 2014.
Award Categories and Descriptions
Alumni Award: Open to members of all reunion classes. Past recipients of the Pioneer Award are not eligible for this award.
Pioneer Award: Open to all members of a 10th reunion (or younger) class. While Alumni Awards typically recognize people who have demonstrated a lifetime of service, the Alumni Council also seeks to acknowledge and support those Pioneers who are on their way to serving their community, the College or their profession in ways that demonstrate their commitment and determination to live a life devoted to social justice. This award highlights the tremendous talents and contributions that young Grinnellians demonstrate.
